FOR Meeting, March 29, 2004
Isaac reported that there was about $640 in the FOR account. He
suggested that $200 of it be earmarked for some of the expenses
of bringing Lynn Gottlieb and Adual Rauf here on May 7th and 8th
for the Peace Walk and event at the Brilliant Cultural Centre. Everyone
agreed. Rosemary is to call David to have a check for $130 to be
drawn up to reimburse her for part of the airfares that have gone
onto her Mastercard. Another $70 is to go toward other expenses.
At the rally opposing the continued occupation of Iraq, 30 more
letters were signed and are ready to go to PM Martin regarding keeping
Canada out of the U.S. Missile Defence Program. Since that time,
our Kootenay FOR peace table has gathered 200 additional letters.
The Southern Interior Peace Conference is being held at the Slocan
Hall on April 17th. On our end, Trish, Joyce, Natalie Voykin and
JJ Verigin are making the arrangements, working closely with KRUNA
and USCC. People will be needed to help with set up and to man the
registration table. Isaac will call for volunteers.
An event notice is running in the Express regarding the Peace Walk.
A notice will also go into the Doukhobour newsletter regarding the
event at the Brilliant Centre and the Peace Walk.
David and Isaac will be designing a poster on Thursday. Posters
will be put up in Nelson and Castlegar.
Hamsas are being made by volunteers at the KSA, which will be held
by people during the Peace Walk.
Rosemary and Isaac will work on press release.
We plan to have another Circles of Hope event on the Thanksgiving
weekend, so planning will need to start soon.
(Note: We invite all to the wonderful events being planned for
May 7th and 8th with Rabbi Lynn Gottlieb and Abdul Rauf Campos Marquetti.
