Meeting Notes July 14, 2003
Five members attended the July 14th meeting of Kootenay FOR. Although
small, the meeting was very enthusiastic. Kootenay FOR has been very
successful with their latest project "Stars For Peace" and
members have been manning a table in front of the Kootenay Co-op most
every Saturday.
Next Meeting:
August 25, 2003 - 7 PM United Church (602 Silica at Josephine) up
the stairs at the far end of the building on Josephine, then come
up to the third floor. It has been decided to hold monthly meetings
during the summer.
Structure:
- Bonnie will provide links on our website to International "FOR"
sites.
- At this meeting Kootenay FOR had $200.00 in the bank.
- To date our "Stars For Peace" campaign has generated
175 of our letters to Chretien. Bobbie will deliver them to Canada
Post.
- Bobbie is also making copies of the David Suzuki letter (from
Ceasefire.ca) to distribute at our Kootenay Co-op "Stars
For Peace" table on Saturday during Nelson Streetfest. Thanks
Bobbie.
- The Light For Peace Coalition is on hold for the summer. We
will report when they begin meeting again.
- Trish and Grant will create a information handout regarding
the Missile Defense System that the Bush administration is proposing
that Canada participate in. (No thanks Mr. Bush)
- A reminder to all that August 17th, 2003, at 2PM, at Mill St
is the place to be! Kootenay For member Ernest has offered his
digs for a potluck and gathering. See the notice on our home page
for details
Update:
Our presence at Streetfest netted an additional 175 letters to Chretien.
Thanks to all members who donated time at the table. What a great
success this event was for us.
Watch for our table on Saturdays in front of the Kootenay Co-op,
if you haven't signed a letter yet, or stop by and say Hi. Tell
your friends too!
