Our next FOR meeting on Victoria Day Weekend has been postponed one week.
Instead, we will next meet on Monday, May 26th, at 7pm, Nelson United Church (602 Silica, at Josephine - enter on Josphine, up the stairs and follow the signs.)

Our work continues to have an important presence in the Kootenays and nationally.
Among our agenda items will include:

1. Discussion on linking our Kootenay FOR work with the USA FOR, and the International FOR regarding efforts to work towards indictment proceedings of US President George Bush.

2. Information update about our mobilizing campaign sending the Iraqi Relief Kits from Nelson to the Mennonite Central Committee in Abbotsford, for then shipment to Iraq in larger containers.

3. Discussion toward a campaign getting the Canadian government to "not" participate in the US Missile Defense System. Where and how to apply pressure on the goverment. Where can we have the most impact!

4. Report on our ongoing successful Rice For Peace Campaign, ...now nearing 1,000 of our locally prepared packets given out, ...now with an added label also thanking the Prime Minister for official non-particpation in the war on Iraq, and backing him up (for not going to war) when faced with pressure to get involved in this war and future wars. MP Bill Blaikie is assisting us with the campaign in Ottawa.

This is just a sampling of our meeting's action project areas. Much more is planned and will be planned as we work together, enjoying each other's company, working with hope, and joy for the peaceful future we want and are creating by are acts.

We look forward to seeing you.
